Jellyfish

Jellyfish are a very interesting sea creature. There are many different types of jellyfish, such as the ones that sting- medusae- and the ones that don't sting- comb jellies. Jellyfish are 98% water. They are gelatinous or jelly-like.  A group of jellyfish are called a smack. Some jellyfish live less than one year or smaller ones lives couple day. They eat larvae, fish eggs, sometimes other jellyfish . Jellyfish have poisonous tentacles that have nematocysts cells. I think jellyfish are the coolest sea creature there is.

Chemicals in Food

There are many chemicals in food nowadays. Chemicals such as pesticides, antibiotics and hormones are used in food to help production and supply.  These chemicals can be harmful if people consume too much. People can buy organic food which does not chemicals and is more fresh. There are laws that restrict how much chemicals there are in food.  You can get rid of some of the chemicals in your food by washing your fruit and vegetables and trimming meat. Maybe would should take some time to see what we are really buying at the grocery store.

Human Brain

The human brain is the control center for the nervous system. The brain is divided into two parts, the left and the right. They are almost symmetrical, but not quite. The left side of the brain controls the muscles on the right side. The right side of the brain controls the muscles on the left side of the body.  The adult brain weighs about 3 pounds. The cerebrum makes 85 percent of the brain weight. The cerebral cortex is the largest part of the brain. The frontal lobes control self-control, planning, and logic. Some of the functions of the brain stem are to relay information from the brain to the body, and to control breathing, heart beat, and consciousness.

Dogs

Why can dogs hear so much better than humans? Dogs can hear higher frequencies than humans can. Puppies are born deaf and when some dogs age they may become deaf.  At the low end of the range dogs can hear about 40 hertz, while humans can hear about 20 Hz. At the high end dogs can hear about 45 Hz and Humans, 23 Hz. Dogs can hear higher pitches than humans do. They may bark at a vacuum cleaner because of the high annoying pitch. Dogs ears are more mobile. Dogs with ears standing up have better hearing then dogs with hanging ears.
